EGS23G - Gravity TEC Racing
Project Type
Collegiate Engineering Team Vehicle
Role
Chief Engineer
Date
December 2022 - Current
Location
Monterrey, Nuevo Leon
The EGS23G is the motorless racing car for the TEC Racing – Gravity team, designed for the “Gravity Race Car” Series in Mexico & the Neumática GX Spanish Series. The “Gravity Race Car” Series consists of two 5km races in different cities throughout Mexico with an average altitude change of 400m accelerating the cars to speeds up to 100 km/h.
I am currently the chief engineer in charge of the design, analysis and manufacturing of the EGS23G. The team decided to pivot form its past design using the lessons learnt from our previous, uncompetitive vehicle. After breaking the problem into its First Principles I took on the task of designing a concept that I believe will produce a truly competitive vehicle.
The aim of this concept was to create a low-drag, visually attractive, competitive vehicle to catch the attention of the public and revitalize gravity races through innovation and competition. The “zero-size” steel spaceframe chassis is completely covered by a glass-fiber body with a large visor canopy, with only essential components like wishbones and tires open to the high-speed airflow.
The design is currently underway as I supervise and coordinate the vehicle subsystems to ensure proper integration and a cohesive vehicle design.
