EthaGOX Liquid Engine

The EthaGOX engine is MRL’s first approach to liquid rocket engine development, currently being developed by myself and Ariel Gonzales.

As a first approach to liquid rocket engine development, we proposed a 3” engine powered by Ethanol and Oxygen in gaseous form (GOX). The construction of the motor will consist of a water-cooled aluminum combustion chamber and cooling sleeve to reduce costs and enable quick iteration.

We have finished the design phase and are currently starting with the motor manufacturing. The development so far has been a challenge requiring us to go in-depth into fluid dynamics, control systems, high-pressure hydraulic design, and safety systems/procedures.
